Toronto trio EMP release the video for their new single, “8AM.” Check it out here. Directed by Zac Facts of We Should Make History, the video is a “cinematic, trunk-rattling vibe session complete with John Woo-style doves flying and drugged up chords.” (Noisey) “8AM” is produced by group member Eestbound and German producer Cubeatz, and it’s the latest single from EMP’s forthcoming debut project which is set to drop this summer.
After finding early success with their debut single, “Rebellion,” EMP has been working relentlessly in the studio this past year, crafting their first full body of work. With a late-night sound that is synonymous with their city, “EMP is forging their own counterculture and is quickly becoming a recognized name in Toronto’s underground scene.” (Highsnobiety) A true embodiment of the city’s downtown teen-cult, EMP is Eestbound (producer), Milly Manson (emcee) and Pree (vocalist). The beatsmith behind popular tracks, including Travis Scott’s “Antidote,” Young Thug’s “Freaky” and Little Simz’s “Bad to the Bone,” Eestbound’s explosive production is the framework for EMP’s vivid sound. Topped off with Milly’s energetic, in-your-face flows and Pree’s sweet-but-savage melodies, “EMP is proving that there’s more to The 6 than what we know.” (Revolt TV)
Though new to the scene, EMP has already generated a long list of milestones. They received early support from Ebro on Beats 1, as well as from prominent hip-hop tastemakers, including Complex, Highsnobiety, The Source, 2DOPEBOYZ and Noisey, just to name a few. Their music has also landed on Spotify playlists, including the viral hit-maker, “Most Necessary,” as well as “Northern Bars” and “We Everywhere.” Though EMP “doesn’t need to do much to convince you that they’re the next face of youth and music,” (unrtd) their upcoming project is going to put a stamp on their place in the game.
