U-God feat. Raekwon, Inspectah Deck and Scotty Wotty – “Epicenter” [Video]

Wu-Tang members join forces in U-God’s new video for “Epicenter,” the DJ Green Lantern produced single from U-God’s new album Venom.  The video features U-God, Raekwon,Inspectah Deck and Jackpot Scotty Wotty, traveling the globe and representing Wu-Tang Worldwide.  2018 marks Wu-Tang Clan’s 25th Anniversary as the Clan reunites for the “Epicenter” video.   “Epicenter” is one of my most creative visuals to date; we went wild with our imaginations to make a video that had no creative boundaries. I believe it ranks up there with some of the CLAN’s early videos, which were so cutting edge and push the envelope to the max” U-God stated to Rolling Stone.

“Epicenter” is featured on U-God’s new solo album Venom, which was released on 3-30-18 via Babygrande Records.  This is the founding member’s fifth studio album and features appearances and production from Raekwon, Method Man, Inspectah Deck, Large Professor, Lord Finesse and Green Lantern.

U-God Announces New Solo Album, Venom, & Releases First Single, “Epicenter” f/ Raekwon & Inspectah Deck

As 2018 marks WU-TANG CLAN’s 25th Anniversary, founding member U-GOD aka Golden Arms reminds us that the Clan members get better with age with the release of his new solo album Venom, which will be released on 3-30-18 via of Babygrande Records.

The essence of that classic Wu-Tang sound we love so much comes full circle on the God’s fifth studio album, Venom.  Led by the gritty DJ Green Lantern produced single, “Epicenter,” featuring Raekwon, Inspectah Deck and Scotty Wotty, U-God wastes no time setting the tone for what’s to come on the album.  “Wu-Tang is forever and will always represent the epicenter of hip-hop, me and my brothers throwing darts back to back that’s that Park Hill $h*t, watch out we causing Tsunamis of swagger up in this motherfucka” U-God commented to Hotnewhiphop.

In addition to his new solo-album, U-God will be releasing his new memoir/book Raw: My Journey Into The Wu Tang on 3-6-2018 and will immediately embark on  his first solo U.S. tour in five years (Tour Dates below) in support of both his new album Venom and his new book RAW: My Journey Into Wu Tang. The RAW/VENOM Tour will feature both intimate Q+A sessions with U-God and live performance dates.

Kool G Rap feat. Raekwon – “Out For That Life”

Hip Hop’s golden era constituent, Queens’ native, the godfather of Mafioso rap, legendary and influential emcee,  Kool G Rap, broke out in the late 80s and early 90s as one half of the duo with DJ Polo. Together, Kool G Rap and DJ Polo released three undisputed classic albums; beginning with their debut album, Road To The Riches (1989), Wanted: Dead or Alive (1990) and Live and Let Die (1992).

Simultaneously, G Rap and DJ Polo gained notoriety as members of the Juice Crew, whose noteworthy membership includes DJ Marley Marl, Big Daddy Kane, Masta Ace and Roxanne Shante At the height of  hip-hop’s golden age, The Juice Crew was the definition of innovative and not only influenced the culture as a whole (style, lyricism, creativity), but also impressed the importance of style, substance and technique upon the next wave of ambassadors (Nas, Jay-Z, Big Pun, Ice Cube, 2Pac, Notorious B.I.G. etc).

After a successful run with DJ Polo and the Juice Crew, G Rap embarked on a solo-career, with his solo debut, 4, 5, 6, appearing in 1995, which was preceded by Roots of Evil (1998) and The Giancana Story (2002) which featured AZ, Nas, Joell Ortiz, Mobb Deep, and CNN. Six years later, G Rap released Half a Klip (2008), which included production from DJ Premier and DJ Marley Marl.

On 6-2-17, Kool G Rap will release his new solo album, Return Of The Don, which is entirely produced by MoSS and features a veritable who’s who list of new and familiar spitters; Freeway, Noreaga, Sean Price, Cormega, Raekwon, Sheek Louch, Saigon, Termanology, Fame, KXNG Crooked, Conway The Machine & Westside Gunn (the newest signees to Eminem’s Shady Records) and the late Sean Price.

Raekwon Discusses His Tribute To Marvin Gaye On The Eve Of His Birth & Death

On The Eve Of The Anniversary For The Iconic Artists Birth & Death, Raekwon Breaks Down His Heartfelt Tribute To Marvin Gaye

“I don’t make records for pleasure. I did when I was a younger artist, but I don’t today. I record so that I can feed people what they need, what they feel. Hopefully, I record so that I can help someone overcome a bad time.” (Marvin Gaye, NME Interview Circa 1982)

One of the standout tracks from Raekwon’s recently released seventh solo-masterpiece, The Wild, is undoubtedly his heartfelt tribute to Marvin Gaye, simply entitled “Marvin” which features Cee-Lo.

With “Marvin,” Raekwon authors his own audio autobiography of the fellow iconic artist, detailing his upbringing, his artistic legacy, his turbulent personal life and his tragic death (at the hands of his own father).  As the anniversary of Marvin Gaye’s birth (April 2nd) and death (April 1st) both draw near, Raekwon further honors Marvin Gaye’s life and his dedication to him by delving into the creative process of the track and where the inspiration stemmed from.

“Once I heard the beat, his name kept coming to me (“Marvin” exactly like Cee-Lo’s hook).  The beat reminded me of him and it transported me back to that time.  It was like his life flashed before me and the words just began spilling out organically” Raekwon stated.  “Marvin’s music transcended genres and it can speak to anyone, but it especially speaks to those of us who come from the inner-city; poverty, oppression, the good and the bad.  Living in the inner-city, his music helps us reflect.  He was real and you could hear it in his voice and in his music.  That is where we have parallels, he spoke to a generation and so do I and Wu-Tang.  We share creativity and we speak on what we want people to hear; and not focus on trends.  Marvin saw the climate change and what he saw affected him.  He stood up for what he believed in (issues we are still dealing with today) and created conversation and awareness and he had a vision; I resemble those same traits.   I wish I could sit down with him and play him this tribute and just smoke a splif and vibe.”
