#WordToTheWise: “Quality Over Quantity”

A lot of artists have 100 plus songs under their belt and still wonder why they haven’t got “on” yet.

So until you know that you’ve found your sound as an artist, don’t try to knock out as many songs as you can in one studio session. Find one record (at a time) that you love, and perfect it. It only takes one hit. ?

#WordToTheWise is quality over quantity!

#WordToTheWise: “Brand Yourself”

Brand yourself. Find ways to separate yourself from the rest. Have a personality that doesn’t distract from your music, but rather compliments it, and ultimately attracts more fans.

Ms. Cardi B is a prime example! People fell in love with Cardi’s unfiltered persona on TV and social media, and when people started to listen to her music, they were pleasantly surprised. Not only that, once Cardi started gaining some heavy clout, she NEVER changed — and people love her even more for that!

And what about Blac Youngsta?
His Instagram videos are beyond hilarious, and even if we don’t get what he’s talking about half the time, he makes us laugh, and we continue to go back to his Insta for more. Best believe, when he drops any posts about his music, that we’re here for that too!

#WordToTheWise is brand yourself as an ARTIST, your music and image goes hand and hand.

R&B artist Damaria from Houston Releases New Visual “Never Find Another”

Damaria came up with this idea for the visual when she was in the studio listening to the mix of the song at Barron studios. She closed my eyes and this is what came to mind. She knew she wanted to do a crazy story line when she wrote the song so she had to make it happen, and she was lucky enough to find a very talented director to bring my vision to life. Drama wanted to do something different for the video that people wouldn’t expect to see, like a short film. “Never Find Another” tells a story of being deceived by someone you were in love with, and coming to the realization that you are not the “only one”. A very relatable situation to many, but this time to the point where the pain is so severe that I decide to get revenge. “You musta thought I was another” is repeated in the hook, letting him know he finally messed with the wrong one. “

Filmed/Edited by Ciara Boniface.

Houston Legend Trae Tha Truth Dives Right In to Save Victims of Hurricane Harvey Including NBA Guard Jonathon Simmons

Houston’s own Trae Tha Truth took matters into his own hands this past week, joining the Houston Fire Departments rescue team for Hurricane Harvey victims. The legendary Grand Hustle hip hop artist has always been known for his major philanthropic efforts in the Houston community, even being named to receive the keys to the city of Houston by Mayor Sylvester Turner. Unfortunately that ceremony would turn into Trae showcasing why he deserves such an honor; spending his celebration day in boats riding across the city of Houston helping families to safety, including Orlando Magic’s own Jonathon Simmons. “Trae tha Truth, the rapper, is from Houston and we know a mutual friend from San Antonio. They brought a boat to Houston because Trae had to evacuate as well,” Simmons said. “They came and got Trae and then he came and got us right away. Luckily, I had a friend in the area who could help us out.” Trae has been restless this past week making sure he does all he can to help rescue the people of Houston, as well as enlist his celebrity/athlete friends to donate funds and supplies to organizations and shelters throughout the community.

Hurricane Harvey is a category 4 hurricane which hit landfall in the Houston, TX area on Friday, August 25th. Since then, the city of Houston has experienced between 20-50 inches of rainfall, leaving many areas of this thriving city underwater. Harvey has now moved towards Port Arthur, TX completely leaving the entire small town submerged under water.

Help Trae Tha Truth and Texas as they fight to continue to save lives, provide supplies and resources to the community as well as develop ways to assist in restoring the community.
