Smokepurpp is apparently not having it with the COVID-19 social distancing, so he and some friends cooked up a new track and video for a surprise drop yesterday. Based on the look of his crib in the video, I’d say he’s probably got more than enough room to stock up.
Snow Tha Product, just released a new track and video titled “How I Do It.” The track showcases Snow‘s bilingual skills as she raps in both Spanish and English.
Jackie Cruz unique blend of R&B melodies, pop electronic soundscapes and soulful vocals make BE BAD a standout hit. The singer-songwriter has over 1 million Spotify plays and has been praised by the likes of Billboard and NPR. Jackie is an artist that draws inspiration through her own life experiences. BE BAD is an ode to feminism and inclusivity, something Jackie pushes for daily, given the industry’s diversity problem.
“Be Bad” is an ode to feminism and inclusivity, something Jackie pushes for daily, given the industry’s diversity problem. In the music video Jackie plays Lilith, and tells the story of creation and the Garden of Eden. The story gives a clear depiction of Jackie’s views of feminism and gender inequality. In the beginning, “god” directs Lilith and Adam on Earth below, and quickly replaces Lilith with Eve, for not being submissive enough, leaving Lilith to feel rejected and lost before reclaiming her inner power. “Be Bad” follows the release of Jackie Cruz’s debut album “Hija de Chavez,” which was inspired by the women who raised Jackie Cruz, and influenced her throughout her life.
Specializing in bite-sized, adrenaline-fueled bangers, nobody in rap brings an energy quite like Comethazine’s. Channeling his darkest impulses into a hard-hitting new project, Comethazine plans Pandemic, his next album. Perfecting the style he pioneered during his successful Bawksee series of projects, including last year’s Bawskee 3.5, Pandemic (a title he picked after enjoying a documentary on Netflix in January) finds Comethazine sharpening his wordplay, adding to his arsenal of flows, and growing his bankroll. Dripping with the pure evil attitude that earned Comethazine his loyal legion of fans, Pandemic arrives on March 27th via Alamo Records.
Along with the announcement of the project, Comethazine shares “No Front,” the first video single. An apocalyptic banger complete with siren-like horn blasts, heralding untold calamity, “No Front” is an unapologetic flex-fest. Over a scant 103 seconds, Comethazine rattles off an escalating series of outlandish bars, piling up to create a picture of a person who truly gives zero f*cks: “A life without a drum is no fun/100 plus shots, one gun/100 shots of lean, not rum/I don’t drink liquor, just lean/Never popped a pill, not one bean.” In the video, the St. Louis native schemes stacks bands in his lair, roosts in his bright red ‘Rari, and enjoys a fine meal (“Filet mignon, crab, well done”) at a fancy restaurant with a model or two.
Named an XXL Freshman in 2019, the 22-year-old Comethazine has paved his own path in the music industry, building a huge fanbase without assistance from co-signs, features, or big name producers. His 2018 breakout single “Bands” earned a Gold certification from the RIAA, and his signature song “Walk” went platinum and earned a remix from A$AP Rocky.
The Weeknd is finally back with his first album in over four years, After Hours. The project releases on the 9-year anniversary of his debut mixtape, back in 2011.
Rising rap star NLE Choppa continues his hot streak with the release of “Walk Em Down” feat. Roddy Ricch via No Love Entertainment / Warner Records. The Cash Money AP and Loshendrix-produced track hits hard as the young artists unleash their original styles. “Walk Em Down” is on track to be the “Song of the Summer” from its melodic verses, infectious wordplay, climactic chorus and a new dance that’s sure to trend on TikTok. Announcing the start of a new creative chapter, dvsn will release their third full-length album, A Muse In Her Feelings, via OVO Sound on April 17th. The critically-acclaimed Toronto duo have unlocked the album pre-order HERE.
To herald A Muse In Her Feelings, dvsn share a brand new single entitled “Between Us” [feat. Snoh Aalegra]. Over the chic Nineteen85 production using a classic Usher sample, Daniel Daley’s vocals stretch from his verse into the intimate hook stating, “I don’t want nothing in between us, nothing there to stop the feeling.” Meanwhile, Snoh makes a seductive cameo, picking up the conversation with Daniel through her delicate delivery. “Between Us” is a nod to the classic R&B remix with dvsn’s previous track, “In Between,” serving as the new single’s inspiration. dvsn said of the track:
“We’ve never been afraid to take risks in our songwriting, and this time is no different. With Snoh’s help, we were able to casually blur the lines of communication and temptation.”
“Between Us” also arrives on the heels of dvsn’s “A Muse,” which dropped in January as the first single and title track to the anticipated album. Not only did the song already clock in over 13.4million streams and 1.6 million video views, but it also attracted widespread praise. HYPEBEASTwrote, “The mellow track sees frontman Daniel Daley waxing poetic about his current love interest, while producer Nineteen85’s sensual beat carries him through in the background,” and affirmed, “Since joining OVO Sound in 2016, dvsn has increasingly made a mark for themselves in the R&B space.” Meanwhile, the pair spoke to Billboard in-depth about their current phase and what to expect on the new project. Building a dynamic catalog, A Muse In Her Feelings follows 2017’s Morning After, which bowed in the Top 20 of Billboard‘s “Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums” chart and collected 445 million cumulative streams to-date.
